There are various kinds of ways that we can pamper and care for our hair. Some occasionally visit the salon for a hair treatment session, while others engage in daily routines which involve numerous hair products such as serums, hair spray and conditioners. The reason behind so much effort is that our hair forms such a significant aspect of our appearance. A thick set of healthy looking hair can go a long way in boosting our attractiveness and confidence. The condition of them is also reflective of our overall health. For example, when we are stressed, they tend to drop and turn white a lot more than usual.

Back to basics

Not only are such long procedures very time consuming, they can also be very expensive, especially in the long-un. While not everyone utilizes treatments at the salon or uses different hair products, most still shampoo and conditioner regularly during their showers. There are simple and effective ways in which one can clean and maintain their hair in an affordable manner. It begins with the basics – the method of shampooing and conditioning.

Choosing your shampoo

Just by ensuring that you are utilizing the proper method of cleansing your hair, can make an enormous difference. Firstly, it is important to pick a shampoo that is appropriate for your type. Different types of hair have specific needs that require different forms of shampoo and conditioner that can cater to them. Shampoos that contain more protein are particularly effective. Additionally, those with shorter hair usually require more frequent shampooing than those without.

Foaming Myths

Many of us believe that when we use shampoo, the more foam the better. However, this is not true! In fact, having more foam signifies excess shampoo and a waste of your product. The foam is supposed to ease the process of massaging the shampoo into your scalp and hair to remove the dirt and oil. Sebum and other oils in your hair quickly destroy the foam and ideally, you should have just enough foam to lubricate the scalp and hair.

Simple but effective steps!

In order to effectively cleanse our hair, we need to ensure that we do not use too much foam or lather when we shampoo. We also should soak our them thoroughly before applying any products to allow for lubrication and a smoother wash. While applying the shampoo, we need to massage the shampoo into the scalp from roots to tips and remember to rinse for at least 30 to 60 seconds to make sure everything has been washed away.

While we may still continue with our regular hair care routines and visits to the salon, we should remember to follow these tips to cover all aspects of hair care.
